ZAMI NOBLA Presents: Leona Beasley + Something Better than Home

Event date:
Saturday, June 23, 2018 - 7:30pm to 9:00pm

Join ZAMI NOBLA and Charis Circle in welcoming Leona Beasley who is a writer and a self-described "Southern lesbo warrior king."  Beasley writes about eccentric, funny, and often queer characters from the South. Her debut book Something Better than Home is a 2018 Lambda Literary Award finalist. It depicts the life of a young lesbian coming of age, and coming out in the 1970’s South.

We will celebrate Something Better than Home with a reading, refreshments, and a book signing. All are welcome to attend. This is a Charis Circle From Margin to Center Literary Event. The suggested donation is $5.

Born with a wit, imagination and an insatiable desire to be herself Onnie Armstrong crowns herself king in her small backyard in Eleven Light City. But being a king isn't what a proper Southern girl should desire. Nor should she kiss other girls, go on adventures, or want to live some place other than the city she was born.
