YATL is a zany live talk show for readers and writers of Young Adult Literature, hosted by author, photographer, and writer, Vania Stoyanova. The shenanigan-filled show celebrates Georgia-based, bestselling Young Adult authors. This month’s event features Kelly Coon, Amanda Joy, Sarah Lyu, and Gilly Segal. Doors open at 6:30. The event is free and open to the public. Books will be available to purchase and have signed.
YA author Kelly Coon is an editor for Blue Ocean Brain, a member of the Washington Post Talent Network, a former high school English teacher, ACT test prep book author, and a wicked karaoke singer in training. She adores giving female characters the chance to flex their muscles and use their brains and wishes every story got the happy ending she's living near Tampa with her three sons, brilliant husband, and a rescue pup who will steal your sandwich. Gravemaidens is her debut novel.
Amanda Joy has an MFA from The New School and lives in Chicago with her dog Luna. You can find her on twitter and Instagram at @amandajoywrites. A River of Royal Blood is her enthralling debut set in a lush North African inspired fantasy world that subtly but powerfully challenges our notions of power, history, and identity.
Sarah Lyu grew up outside of Atlanta, Georgia, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. She currently resides in Birmingham, Alabama, with her husband and dogs. She loves a good hike but can often be found with a book on her lap and sweet tea in hand. The Best Lies is her first book. You can visit her at SarahLyu.com.
Gilly Segal grew up in Florida, came of age in Israel, where she served in the IDF and graduated from Hebrew University, and finally decided to call Decatur, Georgia, home. By day, she’s a lawyer for an advertising agency. By night, she is a caped crusader! No, just kidding (she wishes). Her real not-actually-secret identity is a writer. When Gilly’s not reading and writing, she can be found exploring Decatur with her three kids and searching bakeries the world over for the perfect French macaron. Her favorite so far is rose lychee. Her debut young adult novel, I’m Not Dying With You Tonight, co-written with Kimberly Jones, came out in August 2019.
