Winter’s Gifts, An Indigenous Celebration of Nature

Event date:
Tuesday, December 12, 2023 - 7:30pm to 8:30pm

This event takes place on ZOOM, Charis' virtual event platform. Register here.

Charis welcomes Kaitlin Curtice for a reading and conversation about her new book, Winter’s Gifts, about a Potawatomi girl named Dani who learns to embrace and celebrate her special relationship with Mother Earth.

This is a wonderful conversation for kids and adults alike as we seek to decolonize the holiday season and embrace the gifts of Mother Earth and ask how we can become better stewards of this relationship and stay in healthy, connected relationship with our child selves.

Bring your questions, your journals, and an open heart.

Kaitlin Curtice is an award-winning author, poet-storyteller, and public speaker. As an enrolled citizen of the Potawatomi nation, Kaitlin writes on the intersections of spirituality and identity and how that shifts throughout our lives. She also speaks on these topics to diverse audiences who are interested in truth-telling and healing.

As an inter-spiritual advocate, Kaitlin participates in conversations on topics such as colonialism in faith communities, and she has spoken at many conferences on the importance of inter-faith relationships. Besides her books, Kaitlin has written online for Sojourners, Religion News Service, Apartment Therapy, On BeingSELF Magazine, Oprah Daily, and more. Her work has been featured on CBS and in USA Today. She also writes at The Liminality Journal. Kaitlin lives in Philadelphia with her family.

This event is free and open to all people, especially to those who have no income or low income right now, but we encourage and appreciate a solidarity donation in support of the work of Charis Circle, our programming non-profit.
