Community Art Making: Fungi Drawing Workshop

Event date:
Sunday, April 14, 2024 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Come out to Community Art Making at Charis! This new monthly event is a free and open-ended creative kickback for our community, hosted by local trans and disabled artists Barry Lee and Noah Grigni. This is a safe and accessible space for collective healing through art, welcoming all skill levels, all art forms, and all ages. Art supplies will be provided potluck-style; we will share what we have, and we invite you to do the same! The events are on the second Sunday of each month. This space is free and open to the public, with suggested donations to Atlanta Solidarity Fund and/or Charis Circle. This program takes place in person at Charis Books and More, 184 S Candler Street, Decatur, GA 30030. No reservation or ticket required. Masks are required inside the store.

This workshop will be facilitated by Eliza Crofts (@elizacrofts), a local artist and foraging educator. Participants will have the opportunity to practice drawing mushrooms and other fungi, using wild-foraged specimens and field guides as references. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own sketchbooks or nature journals if they are able; paper, colored pencils, pens, and a variety of other art supplies will be provided! All ages and skill levels are welcome. Masks will be required.

This event is free and open to all people, especially to those who have no income or low income right now, but we encourage and appreciate a solidarity donation in support of the work of Charis Circle, our programming non-profit. Charis Circle's mission is to foster sustainable feminist communities, work for social justice, and encourage the expression of diverse and marginalized voices. https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/CharisCircle?code=chariscirclepage
