Cliterati Open Mic: featuring Atlanta's Youth Poet Laureate Ogechi N. Ofodu

Event date:
Thursday, July 18, 2019 - 7:30pm to 9:00pm

Charis and Cliterati pair up the third Thursday of each month to present an inviting and fierce open mic & reading series that celebrates beginning voices and seasoned veterans alike. Co-hosted by Karen G. and Theresa Davis, all are welcome to come and share their work.

This month's Cliterati features Atlanta's Youth Poet Laureate Ogechi N. Ofodu.

As a writer, Ogechi made her spoken word debut in 2015 with KC Poet Tree. They went on to place Top 25 in the world for Youth Poetry in 2016 at Brave New Voices International Poetry Slam (BNV) in Washington, D.C. The next year, Ogechi placed 3rd in the World at BNV with Atlanta WordWorks, was crowned the 3rd Atlanta's Youth Poet Laureate, as well as published her debut chapbook "Lost Negro Records: A Colored History Chapbook.” before finally making her full-time transition in recording music as a rapper/singer. By 2019, Ogechi has released 6 EPs and her 2nd manuscript, “This Is My Country” championed by Urban Word NYC. A 21 yo, Nigerian Kansas City, MO native, and a senior film major at Georgia State University. Along with film, music, and dance - Ogechi flourishes in creative form. A passionate free spirit of a magic black girl, if anything Ogechi always hopes to evoke emotion in all of her artistic stylings.

This is a Charis Circle From Margin to Center Literary Event. The suggested donation is $5.
