Indies First is a holiday coinciding with Small Business Saturday which celebrates the special relationship between independent bookstores, authors, and readers. It's a great day to kick off your holiday shopping, treat yourself after a busy family weekend, or just hang out with your fellow book lovers.
This year we welcome DJ GeeXella for a literary music party. Shop and vibe out with one of the hottest DJs in the city at Charis between 1-3 pm.
GeeXella (they/them) is a Black Latinx, Non-binary and Queer multidisciplinary artist. They are currently located in Muscogee Creek nation also known as Atlanta, GA. They see their work as an extension of cultural organizing and portal into the liberation of Black and marginalized people. They founded Duval Folx in 2018, a dance partythat was a direct response to Jacksonville at the time being a focal point for Black, Trans and GNC violence. They are dedicated and committed to using arts & culture to bring awareness to the intersecting difficulties that Queer/Trans and BIPOC communities face in the South.
We are also excited to participate in this year's Atlanta Indie Bookstore Crawl, which includes bookstores throughout Metro Atlanta! Sign-up for your Bookstore Crawl Passport online at https://www.atlantaindiebookshopcrawl.com/ and visit five participating bookstores (including Charis of course!) and collect 5 stamps during the week of November 21st-26th to get a coupon for 25% off a future purchase at the bookstore of your choice.
Visit ALL of the bookstores on the list to be entered for a massive raffle filled with dreamy giveaways!
After celebrating at Charis during the day, slide on over to the Indie Bookstore Crawl afterparty which begins at 6 pm! RSVP here for the afterparty: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/429300628737

Want to help us even more? Share/tweet the link and let folks know why you support one of the oldest feminist spaces in the South! The more unique donations we receive, the more eligible we are for prizes and extra funds.
