Professor at Georgia State University and author of the Womanist Reader. She has published articles in Signs, The Journal of Black Psychology, and History of Psychology, as well as contributed essays to such volumes as Good Girls/Bad Girls: Women, Sex, Violence, and Power in the Nineties (Rutgers, 1996) and Looking Queer: Body Image and Identity in the Lesbian, Bisexual, and Gay Communities (Haworth, 1998).
