Cliterati Open No-Mic Featuring Michael Warrior Bonds

Charis and Cliterati pair up to present an inviting and fierce open mic & reading series on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Hosted by the anarchic spoken word team of Karen G and Theresa Davis, members of the Art Amok Slam Team, this series cultivates the voices of authors, novices and an assortment of poets, songstresses and storytellers. March's featured performer is Michael Warrior Bonds.

Michael Warrior Bonds is an outspoken and internationally respected award winning Urban G.R.I.O.T, author and motivator from Bostons inner-city (Roxbury). He holds an Associate’s in Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Kaplan University/Bauder College and is currently in attendance and studying to receive his Bachelors in Social Work degree at Georgia State University. In 2008 he won Best Spoken Word Album at New England UMA’s. He is a member of the renowned Blackout Arts. Street Peace Inc. and Prophets for Non Profits Inc. voted him "Boston Community Warrior" in 2003. In 2011 he was recognized again by his community and by the Institute for Pan African Cultural Education Inc. (P.A.C.E)/ Defensive Arts Training (D.A.T.) for being a “Black Warrior” He is also the author of "Gunz, Poems & Rosez, the Experience Strength and Hope of Michael Warrior Bonds". His work is also featured in the "Bandana Republic, A Literary Anthology of current & former members of street organizations edited by the late legendary poet, author, writer Louis Reyes Rivera & Bruce George editors co-founder of HBO Def Poetry. He can also be read in The Plymouth State University Centripetal, The Red Bull Word Clash (a coffee table book), Looters Magazine (www.lootersmag.com) and Love Nu Art Magazine (www.lovenuart.com). He can be seen in the award winning documentary The 2006 Red Bull Word Clash Film, produced by Monti Smith for Red Bull. He has performed amongst the like of poet, educator and co-founder of the Black Arts Movement Askia Toure, Gospel great Mrs. Tramaine Hawkins, former R&B sensation CeCe Peniston, and others.
