Black Widow Stories of Death and Rebirth

Event date:
Thursday, October 12, 2017 - 7:30pm to 9:00pm

Join Charis Circle and For Brown Bleeders in welcoming Blache Marie, a poet, photographer, herbalist, deathwife, graphic designer and interdisciplinary research-based artist. They are touring the paths of their ancestors “great” forced migration. They will share poems they have written while going through many processes of death and rebirth and learning their ancestors stories. While performing the poetry, Blache will also share herbal knowledge and some ritual they have learned during their death and rebirth experiences.

Blache will also screen a short film called MOTHER: winds, wounds and tides of mama black widow, which is currently on view in Philadelphia, PA and Havana, Cuba.

About For Brown Bleeders: We are a collective of black and native artists and healers. We organize healing spaces & create herbal remedies focused on the needs of people of color who bleed & who are moving through all forms of abuse.

To support the work of Charis Circle and traveling artist Blache Marie, there will be a suggested donation of $10 but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
