A DECADE IN THE MAKING
Amy Ray, T Cooper, & Scott Turner Schofield REUNITED--and it feels so good...
Join us for a winter blowout extravaganza on Saturday, December 15 at Star Bar Atlanta, 7 PM
In celebration of T Cooper's latest book, "Real Man Adventures"
(McSweeney's), and for the third time in a decade, rockstar Amy Ray,
author T Cooper and king of performance Scott Turner Schofield will join
together on stage for one wild night of live music, words and
perfomance (sponsored by Charis Books and Charis Circle). Things that very well might come
up on this special night: gender, masculinity, femininity, pit bulls,
French people, the artist's life, Barack Obama, having a large penis,
having no penis, Great White sharks, Hanukkah, Jesus, songwriting, The
Real Housewives (of Atlanta, New York, Beverly Hills--no others), and
much, much more--including audience questions addressed by the three
performers.
Amy Ray has been making her solo music in between Indigo Girls' records
and gigs for the past 12 years. She started an indie label, Daemon
Records in 1989. After releasing over 40 records by her favorite artist,
in 2000 she decided to venture into making her own music, influenced by
punk, rock, and Appalachian music. Ray took writing cues and musical
inspiration from many of the artists on her label and bands she had met
through the underground community. Her first record Stag featured her
partnership with punk icons, The Butchies, along with The Rockateens and
Joan Jett. Her second release Prom, brought Jody Bleyle, Kate
Schellenbach, Donna Dresch, and 1945 into the fold. On her last solo
release, Didn't It Feel Kinder, Ray teamed up with producer Greg
Griffith (Vitapup, Le Tigre, The Butchies) and released what was
considered an evolution in her musical life. With newest record, Lung of
Love, Amy Ray is back with Greg Griffith, along with The Butchies, and
keyboard player, Julie Wolf. This newest CD is as energetic as her first
release Stag, but has the maturity and musical diversity that reflects
her long tenure in the musical community.
Scott Turner Schofield started his performance career at Charis Books
and More in 2001, and he thanks the feminists in his life - especially
Amy Ray - for his success. He has made a career of performance art, even
emceeing, and theater, TV, and film acting that has taken him all over
the world - keeping in close touch with T Cooper all along the way. He
currently resides in France, where he acts with the National Theatre.
