Education Coordinator for the First Afrikan Church's HIV/AIDS
Initiative. Dr. Bellinger will lead a
discussion examining the connections between sexuality
and spirituality as it relates to the church and will
listeners to consider the various ways that our understanding of sex
and sexuality have effected the way(s) in which we see and
conceptualize God/the divine. Dr. Bellinger's most recent publications
include the articles “Sexuality and Spirituality in the Black Church”
and part one of “Living with HIV as a Woman of Faith.” Don't miss this

Join us as we welcome Kennesaw State University professor Linda Niemann to share from her new book\, Railroad Noir\: The American West at the end of the 20th Century. Culled from the 20 years she spent traveling the American West as a freight brakeman and conductor\, Linda Grant Niemann's Railroad Noir delves into the darker side of railroading. The 1990s were a time of crisis for workers caught in the breakup of the Southern Pacific Railroad. Niemann's tales of exhaustion\, alcoholism\, homelessness\, and corporate blundering present a revelatory account of railroading life.

This month's Faiths and Feminisms features Laurie L. Patton\, the Charles Howard Candler Professor of Religions at Emory University. Her scholarly interests are in the interpretation of early Indian ritual and narrative\, comparative mythology\, literary theory in the study of religion\, and women and Hinduism in contemporary India\, and religion\, conflict and peacebuilding.
In addition to many articles in these fields\, she is the author or editor of seven books. She will present her talk "\;Through the Looking Glass of Comparative Religions\: Living Well and Staying Spiritually Grounded in a World of Multiple Faiths"\;
