This facilitated group
is open to all writers of fiction and creative non-fiction who want a
serious group to provide constructive criticism, motivational
exercises, and interpersonal accountability to keep their writing on
track. We do monthly exercises and critiques with an eye towards
individual improvement and the eventual goal of publication. Writers
are encouraged to bring copies of their work to share for critique. The
group meets the second & fourth Monday of each month from
6:30-8:30pm. Please direct inquiries to elizabeth@chariscircle.org.

This facilitated book
group meets from 7:00-8:30pm the 4th Wednesday of each month at Charis
to discuss books which feature queer characters/ storylines as well as
a strong attention to literary craft and style. January's selection is
"A Map of Home" by Randa Jarrar, a very funny coming of age tale about
an audacious Muslim girl growing up in Kuwait, Egypt and Texas. Jarrar
explores familiar adolescent ground—stifling parental expectations,
precarious friendships, sensuality and first love—but her exhilarating
voice and flawless timing make this a standout.

Start: 19:30
End: 21:00

Local author and
pyschotherapist Susanne Fincher will talk about mandalas (“sacred
circle” designs) and their importance on your life’s journey toward
wholeness. She will guide you in the creation of several mandalas
described in her latest book, The Mandala Workbook. She'll round the
evening out with time for questions, comments, and an opportunity to
share your mandalas.
